``Hello Sushi is a treasure in mid-Michigan. I have always had excellent luck with the sushi, and chef Ino is a joy to watch. I tend to eat only nigiri-zushi, but the menu lists many, many varieties of rolled sushi.
``Keep an eye on the specials listed on the whiteboard behind the sushi bar; it will list the freshest items and any daily specials. Better still, ask the sushi chef what is new and delightful. Last time I did this he served me up a nice sea cucumber appetizer, something that was over the top in a lot of ways but also a great treat. In March 2001 the peppered pollock roe and herring roe were quite good.
``Hello Sushi tends to get busy during the lunch hour, but there are usually a couple of seats left at the sushi bar.
``There is a sushi lunch special for $10, and a sashimi lunch special for $11. Pretty standard items on the lunch special: magoro, sake, ebi, kani kama, a california roll, and two other pieces of nigiri-zushi - usually tako and hokkigai, but it varies. The unagi is quite good too, as are the various roe.''
