About Misako (Eugene, Oregon, USA)

Variety of sushi: Usual selection.

``If you enjoy waiting an hour or more for sushi then this is the place to go. I've never been served in less time, but once the food comes it is almost always great. The atmosphere is great! (Located on the corner of a major downtown intersection.) The service has varied from having one of the best waitresses I've ever had to another who was slow and innattentive at best.''
About Miko (Champaign, Illinois, USA)
Last visited October 2000.
Variety of sushi: Somewhat broader than average.
Promptness of service: Exceptionally attentive.
``This is hands down my favorite sushi restaurant ever (and I am a sushi lover). The sushi is great as are the appetizers and soup. Although I've never had the other menu dishes, I've been with people who have and who think they are excellent. They also have great table-side cooking which I've had a few times (when I'm with non-sushi types). One of the best parts of the restaurant is Janet, the owner, who is unbelievably attentive. She is simply the best!''
About Mt. Fuji (Fort Collins, Colorado, USA)
Last visited September 2000.
Variety of sushi: Usual selection.
Promptness of service: Prompt.
``On the whole, this is an average sushi restaurant. However, it makes it better to consider that this area of Colorado is not known for it vastness of sushi offerings. The only problem I've ever had is being served smoked salmon (yuck) instead of fresh and when I asked for a replacement, they brought `fresh' salmon that wasn't of the best quality. But it definetely satisfies the sushi craving.''
About NOBU (Saint Louis, Missouri, USA)
Last visited January 2001.
Variety of sushi: Somewhat broader than average.
Promptness of service: Slow.
``People seem to really like Nobu, but I find that it is rather expensive for the small portions they serve, the dining room is cramped and service is on the slow side. I also can't stand the slice of white onion that comes plopped on top of every piece of sushi. To me that just kills the natural flavor of the fish.''
About Tachibana (Saint Louis, Missouri, USA)
Last visited December 2000.
Variety of sushi: Usual selection.
Promptness of service: Prompt.
``The best word for Tachibana is consistent. The service is courteous and the sushi is good. It can be a bit smoky, however.''
